Weighing just 5.71 kg (without fuel, but including the bar and chain), the STIHL MS 251 Petrol Chainsaw includes a high-powered but fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine, which gives it a very impressive power-to-weight ratio of 2.2 kg/ kW. With a sound power level of 114 dB(A), this top-of-the-range STIHL domestic chainsaw also features a 0.325-inch P saw chain with a narrow kerf, helping you achieve high-precision cutting, every time.

You can purchase this STIHL chainsaw with either a 40 cm (16-inch) or 45 cm (18-inch) guide bar, allowing you to customise the tool to match your exact requirements.

A High-Torque but Low-Emission 2-MIX Engine

High torque but low-maintenance, the STIHL MS 251’s 3 hp (2.2 kW) 2-MIX engine produces up to 70% lower emissions and has up to 20% lower fuel consumption than an equivalent STIHL 2-stroke engine without the 2-MIX technology. This has the dual benefit of saving you lots of money on fuel and being kinder to the environment than other petrol chainsaws.

(Please be advised that this petrol chainsaw runs on a mixture of unleaded fuel and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil, with a fuel to oil ratio of 50:1.)

A Single Master Control Lever

The MS251’s start, choke, throttle and stop functions are helpfully all located on a single master control lever, making this chainsaw very easy to use.

Anti-Vibration System for Comfortable Sawing

Because the buffer and spring elements dampen the engine’s vibrations before they reach the handle, the MS 251 is far more comfortable to handle than other petrol chainsaws. This keeps you safer and helps you work more effectively, particularly when completing more demanding tasks.

Longer-Lasting Air Filtration System

The MS 251 Petrol Chainsaw’s air filtration system operates through the principle of pre separation routing. This involves drawing the air inwards, swirling it around, and expelling the heavier dirt/ dust particles. The pre-cleaned air is then routed to the HD2 filter via a pre-separator duct. This filter shields the engine’s working parts from even the finest dust particles.

Naturally, as the air filter is protected from the worst of the dirt and dust, it enjoys a much longer service life than those found in conventional filtration systems.

Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning

Side-mounted chain tensioning allows you to quickly and simply tighten, loosen or replace the MS251’s chain, so you don’t need to waste unnecessary time before recommencing your work. (The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.)

A Compensator for Less Maintenance

The compensator acts as a control system in the machine’s carburettor, ensuring that performance, emission and fuel consumption levels remain consistent over long periods of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. Because of this, the MS 251 requires less maintenance than most other petrol chainsaws and you don’t need to clean the air filter until there’s a noticeable drop in performance.

Lower Oil Consumption

Consisting of an Ematic guide bar, Oilomatic saw chain and controlled-delivery oil pump, STIHL’s Ematic System gets the oil exactly where it’s needed fast. By maximising lubrication, this helps reduce oil consumption by up to a half, increasing the chainsaw’s lifespan.

Should you often work in dusty conditions, or use long guide bars, the new oil pump system allows you to quickly and easily increase the oil quantity, at any time.

The Fuel and Oil Tanks

The fuel and oil tank caps feature a bayonet design, which makes them simple to open and close, without the need for tools.
