FAQs

How does 2-stroke oil differ from 4-stroke oil?

The two oils serve different types of engines. With a 2-stroke engine, the oil is combined with the petrol to lubricate internal components during combustion. A 4-stroke engine stores its oil separately in an oil sump, where it circulates continuously around the engine. Using the correct oil is vital for protecting the engine and maintaining dependable performance.

Why should I use the engine oil recommended for my machine?

The correct engine oil helps minimise friction, protecting moving parts and keeping your engine operating efficiently. It also supports long-term reliability and can prevent premature wear caused by inadequate lubrication.

Which manufacturers' engine oils do you supply?

Our range includes engine oils and lubricants from many trusted names in the garden machinery industry, including Briggs & Stratton, ECHO, EXOL, Hayter, Honda, Husqvarna, Kubota and STIHL. We stock products suitable for both domestic and commercial equipment.

Why would I need a fuel measuring bottle or mixing aid?

Fuel measuring aids are designed to help you prepare the correct petrol and 2-stroke oil mixture quickly and accurately. Using the proper mixing ratio helps your engine perform as intended while reducing the risk of problems associated with an incorrect fuel mix.

Are larger containers of engine oil available?

Yes, they are. Alongside smaller bottles for occasional maintenance, we also stock selected oils in larger containers. These are well suited to professional users, workshops and anyone servicing several machines. Available container sizes are shown on the relevant product pages.
