The STIHL MS 162 Petrol Chainsaw

This entry-level petrol chainsaw weighs just under 5kg, excluding fuel but including its bar and chain. It features a fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine, 30cm (12”) guide bar and 3/8″ P saw chain, designed with a narrow kerf to ensure extremely precise cutting. This chainsaw’s overall power-to-weight ratio is an impressive 3.8kg/ kW.

The 2-MIX Engine

The MS 162’s 1.6 hp 2-MIX engine is low maintenance, low emission and highly fuel efficient. Even when used at its maximum power, it is completely compliant with the EU’s strict Stage V Emissions Directive. This demonstrates that not only is the STIHL MS 162 kinder to the environment than the average petrol chainsaw, but also that it will save you plenty of money on fuel.

Optimised Combustion Technology

Before ignition, four overflow channels swirl the fuel and air mix to optimise combustion. As this results in a high torque across a broad rpm range, it lowers the engine’s fuel consumption and improves its overall performance.

The Control Lever

Whenever you stop the STIHL MS 162, its control lever will automatically return to the operating position. So, providing the chainsaw’s engine is still warm, you won’t have any problems immediately restarting it.

Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning

And thanks to the tank caps’ bayonet design, once fuel or oil does eventually need adding, you can easily open and close them, without using tools.
