The STIGA Tornado 398 M Petrol Lawn Tractor

The STIGA Tornado 398 M Petrol Lawn Tractor is a rear-wheel-drive ride-on mower, which weighs 160 kg and measures 1.73 m (length) x 1.2 m (width) x 1.1 m (height). Fitted with a 414 cc STIGA ST 400 engine, it boasts a maximum power output of 9.5 hp (7.1 kW) at 2,800 rpm and can also mow in its reverse gear.

Featuring a side discharge chute and 98 cm cutting deck, including two blades, the STIGA Tornado 398 has seven different cutting heights. These range between 25 and 80 mm, and are easy to adjust via a convenient lever, positioned next to the driver’s seat.

Two Mowing Options

This garden tractor can be fitted with a mulching plug, allowing you to recycle small grass cuttings back onto the ground to enrich your lawn. (This attachment is available to purchase as an optional extra.)

Mechanical Transmission with Six Gears

Designed with mechanical transmission, the Tornado 398 M features five forward gears and one reverse gear. The gear stick is positioned just to the right of the driver’s seat, so is within very easy reach.

An Electromagnetic Clutch

The electromagnetic clutch is positioned close to the steering wheel, so stopping and starting the cutting mechanism is simplicity itself. This feature makes it straightforward to switch between mowing and transporting.

The Benefits of Anti-Scalping Wheels

This garden tractor is also fitted with two anti-scalp wheels, so, when you’re working on challenging terrain, you won’t need to worry about accidentally taking off too much grass and damaging your lawn.

Cleaning the Machine

The STIGA 398’s integrated washing link can easily be attached to a garden hose, so you can thoroughly clean the cutting deck after use. By preventing grass clippings accumulating on the deck, this helps maintain optimised levels of performance, ultimately resulting in a longer lifespan for the machine.
