About the STIHL HLA 86 Cordless Long-reach Hedge Trimmer (Shell Only)
A professional-grade telescopic long-reach hedge trimmer
The newest telescopic long-reach hedge trimmer from STIHL is the HLA 86, an evolution of the HLA 85 with better balance for less fatigue. It’s ideal for the professional user but also suitable for heavy-duty domestic use, trimming tall hedges, and when used with the optional catcher plate side and top growth. A compatible battery and charger are required to operate this unit.
Featuring an adjustable shaft and an angled head
The shaft includes anti-slip protection which along with the loop handle gives precision when trimming. Its length can be adjusted from 260 cm to 330 cm to suit the task at hand, and includes a 50 cm / 20 inch blade that can be angled from -45º to +70º. The head can also be folded down to give a total shorter length of 180 cm for easy transport.
Superb performance
The HLA 86 posses STIHL’s brushless electric motor which requires minimal maintenance and contributes to a long-lasting machine. It also gives a consistent performance by ensuring the right amount of power is delivered to the engine at all times. It also features a new ergonomic control handle suitable for left and right hands, with a self-resetting Ergo lever to prevent unintentional pressing of the on/off switch. The shell weighs 4.6 kg (without the battery) which makes it easier to manouevre and means less fatigue compared to similar fuel-run models.
Requires a STIHL AP system battery and charger, sold separately
The shell is ideal for those who already have a compatible battery and charger, but if these are required they can be purchased separately from a choice of battery voltages and chargers – however STIHL recommend the AP 200 battery and AL 301 quick charger. Having one battery to power a group of tools for professional users especially is cost-effective and is easier to move around day-to-day.
