Ideal for demanding farmers, gardeners or landscapers, the MS 271 is a versatile, durable and powerful saw. Available with a 16 inch (40 cm) or a 18 inch (45 cm) bar length.

High power with intelligent design

STIHL's 2-MIX 2-stroke engine technology powers this 2.6 kW chainsaw, cutting fuel consumption by up to 20 percent and emissions by up to 50 percent, when compared to conventional 2-stroke engines. This model also uses advanced combustion technology to offer highly efficient performance, resulting in even lower fuel consumption and high torque across a broad rpm range. A compensator in the carburettor helps maintain the fuel/air ratio and engine power, even as the air filter becomes clogged.

Comfortable to use

An anti-vibration system dampens the engine's oscillations to significantly reduce vibrations at the handles. This allows you to work for longer without fatigue. All the important operating functions such as start, choke, throttle and stop are controlled with a single lever. The chain tensioner is located on the side of the machine so that you don't have to touch the sharp saw chain to access it, while tool free filler caps mean you can top up the oil and fuel without difficulty.

Robust STIHL quality

This machine uses STIHL's long-life air filtration system with pre-separation to achieve perceptibly longer filter life compared with conventional filter systems as larger, heavier particles are ejected before they reach the filter. The Ematic chain lubrication system is also present, providing maximum lubrication, longer wear and less oil consumption than conventional methods of chain lubrication - up to 50 percent less bar oil consumption.
