About the STIHL HTA 86 Cordless Pole Saw (Shell Only)
A powerful long-reach pole pruner for professional use in tree maintenance
The HTA 86 from STIHL is a powerful pole pruner from their cordless AP battery system, designed for professional use in tree maintenance for pruning trees and removing dead wood. A battery and a charger are required but sold separately.
Precise control even when reaching the tallest branches
The telescopic shaft measures 270-390 cm and is rigid to allow for precision and control, which is especially needed when working at height; adjusting the length of the shaft is effortless with the quick release mechanism. The compact power head comprises a 12 inch / 30 cm bar with a 1/4″ PM3 saw chain, as well as a handy branch hook for easy removal of loose cuttings from where you cannot reach.
Effortless, fatigue-free working
Once the battery is inserted into the machine, the HTA 86 is extremely well-balanced for fatigue-free working. The ergonomic control handle features a locking lever which is self-resetting to prevent the unintentional switching on of the machine, plus an ERGO lever that allows for continuous working with ease.
Maintenance is kept to a minimum, and requires minimal effort
The HTA 86 boasts a the STIHL brushless electric motor (EC) which is very energy efficient and virtually maintenance free; the engine is electronically controlled to match the load for outstanding efficiency and long-lasting performance. The chain tensioner is located on the side of the power head to prevent contact with the chain for safer adjustment, and the patented oil cap doesn’t require tools to open for quick access.
A battery and charger are a necessity for operation
If you already have other AP System machines within your fleet, you can use the compatible AP batteries and chargers across all AP Series products, including the HTA 86. Otherwise, you will need to purchase both a battery and a charger separately, with STIHL recommending the AP 200 battery and the AL 500 quick charger.

STIHL AP System tools and batteries are covered for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase by the owner, when used for the designed purpose of that product by professional users (including hire, rental and construction, farm and estate). Terms and conditions apply. Ron Smith & Co will register the warranty with STIHL for you.
