The brushcutter is powered by a leading high torque 25.4 cc petrol engine that has a maximum output of 0.87 kW. The engine merges the best features of an electric start for competent starting. Compared to plastic casings on other models, the aluminium housing on the MX22E is far superior in durability and strength.

The MX22E offers excellent power to weight ratio and includes a shoulder strap too for comfortable operation. The 4-bearing supported gear box and solid steel drive shaft help to reduce vibrations for a more pleasant user experience. The line head has a tap 'n' go feature whereby a simple 'tap' on the ground will quickly release more line.
