A truly hard-working ride-on mower for the toughest, sloped areas
The AS 1040 Yak 4WD XL is a robust ride-on flail mower designed for use on uneven, rough, steep, and undulating terrain. Mulching extensive green areas with growth up to 1.5 metres this flail mower is engineered tackle the toughest vegetation. Plus, its low centre of gravity and excellent balance distribution - 45% on the front axle and 55% on the rear - along with four-wheel drive and extra large wheels, ensure outstanding traction and safe work on every terrain, but especially on sloped areas. This machine is made for professional use by service providers, local authorities, and garden and landscaping contractors as well as for viticulture and equestrian businesses.
Superb coverage no matter the conditions
The Yak has a large 100 cm mulching mower deck with 56 flails and is expected to cover up to 7300 m2/h; the arrangement of the deck ensures perfect mowing results over the entire working width, diminishing the need for path overlap to guarantee high work rates. The cut material is deposited as a mulch layer over the entire working width, which means zero clean-up! The surfing suspension of the flail mower deck follows the contours of the ground to ensure an even cut no matter the terrain. The height of cut is easily adjustable 30-110 mm through 7 preset positions via spring support.
Fitted with a trusted Briggs & Stratton engine
A professional Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin petrol engine powers the Yak, delivering a maximum of 17.2 kW (23 hp) at 627 cc displacement needed for tough terrain. A cyclone air filter ensures the right amount of fresh air is supplied to the engine for optimum performance.
Variable hydrostatic drive equates to effortless manoeuvrability
A single drive lever - that can be operated with just one hand - is what controls both forward and reverse movements of the ride-on flail mower; the machine can also be stopped using the same lever or using the emergency stop foot pedal, with the same lever also activating cruise control. The Yak can be steered continuously in the range of 7.3 km/h forward and 6.8 km/h in reverse.
Equipped with a host of user-friendly features
The ergonomically designed seat is in an upright position to allow for optimum placement for operating the steering wheel, as well as for comfortable leg room for users up to 6' 4" in height. The addition of a steering wheel knob is welcomed when manoeuvring over level terrain as it is easier to use. A tilt meter conveniently displays the slope incline and is easily visible through the steering wheel. The tyres are fitted with AS Motor tyre sealant to prevent against punctures and encourage longer wear. The flails and drive belt are easily replaced via appropriate service cut-outs and openings, with fast access to all maintenance points.
Safety is absolutely paramount
The ride-on flail mower is fitted with a stable folding bar, and an integrated safety switch in the driver seat; aluminium side panels protect the operators hands from thorns and alike. The addition of lashing points on the Yak make it safe to transport.
