The chainsaw is equipped with a large LED status display positioned for easy visibility. This display features an integrated chain oil sensor, alerting users when oil levels become low. It also shows the chain brake position, improving safety awareness during operation. Important system information is available instantly, helping prevent unnecessary interruptions. The electronic trigger system with unlock button ensures smooth, controlled activation every time.

Its compact and well-balanced construction supports precise handling in challenging cutting positions. When used with the AP 300 S battery, the chainsaw achieves optimal balance and control. Fast Chain Adjustment and Secure Component Design

The side-mounted chain tensioning system allows quick, safe chain adjustment during work. The tensioning screw is positioned laterally through the sprocket cover for added protection. This design enables re-tensioning without unnecessary contact with sharp components. The captive nuts on the sprocket cover remain attached during removal. This prevents loss and ensures faster, more efficient maintenance.

Reliable Cooling and Simple Long-Term Maintenance

The chainsaw uses a non-woven air filter to protect internal electronics and engine components. This filter removes sawdust, fine dust, and debris from the cooling airflow. Clean airflow ensures consistent cooling of heat sinks and internal parts. The filter can be easily cleaned using STIHL Varioclean and reused. Regular cleaning supports long service life and dependable performance.

Secure Handling and Practical Worksite Features

A fold-out suspension hook allows the chainsaw to be securely attached to climbing ropes. This feature makes lifting or lowering the tool within the tree safe and controlled. The hook can also secure the chainsaw when not cutting. When folded away, it does not interfere with operation or storage. This improves flexibility and safety for professional arborists.

Weather Protection and High-Quality Cutting Equipment

The MSA 220 TC-O is IPX4 rated, allowing reliable operation in wet weather conditions. This provides confidence when working in unpredictable outdoor environments. It is supplied with a 1.3mm 3/8” P PS3 saw chain as standard. The chainsaw also features the Light P04 guide bar for improved cutting efficiency. This setup delivers fast cutting with reduced vibration and excellent control.

Battery Requirements and Runtime Expectations

This model is supplied as a tool-only unit, without battery or charger included. For full performance, it must be used with an AP 300 S or AP 500 S battery. The AP 300 S battery provides optimal balance and up to 29 minutes runtime. The AP 500 S battery extends runtime to approximately 34 minutes. The larger battery may slightly affect balance during extended use.

The MSA 220TC-O cordless charger requires a compatible battery and charger to operate.  We recommend the AP 300 S and the AL 500 charger to operate and can be purchased through us separately.
