STIHL's modern and efficient FS 40 is perfect for everyday garden trimming.
The FS 40 is the lightest STIHL strimmer of the new generation range. With a stylish, modern appearance, convenient operation and simple starting.
Thanks to a clever engine design, this machine instantly feels lighter than alternatives as soon as you pick it up. It has a bent shaft and loop handle control, providing ergonomic operation for comfortable use in tight spaces, perfect for use over small areas of grass and around obstacles. A multi-function control handle means you can expect easy, thumb-operated control, with your hand never leaving the handle.
The number of steps needed to start the machine has been drastically reduced by STIHL, with the aim of increasing ease of use. The all-too-common frustration of a flooded engine has been virtually eliminated in this machine, while a manual fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button, reducing the number of strokes required to start following long breaks in use.
Powerful, efficient engine
The power in the machine comes from STIHL's 2-stroke engine with stratified charge. This creates a fuel-free layer of air between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase, to reduce the quantity of fuel lost during the charge cycle. For the end user, this results in higher power with a lower weight, up to 20 percent lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke machines and vastly reduced exhaust emissions.
